Madison, Alabama
Madison is located on the western side of Huntsville and eastern part of Limestone County. Madison’s first resident was John Cartwright, who settled in the area in 1818. The city was originally known as Madison Station, and grew up in the 1850s around a stop of the Memphis & Charleston Railroad. The city has become a fast-growing suburb of Huntsville. In 1980, the population of Madison was about 40,000. Today, the city’s estimated population is 40,000.

Madison City School System
The Madison City School System is one of the top systems in the State, if not the country. The system has an operating budget of more than $60 million, employs more than 600 certified staff members, and serves more than 8,400 students. Test scores on national standardized tests are above the national average at all schools. It is a truly a shining star for the City.

Parks and Greenways:
Dublin Park
Dublin Memorial Park 8324 Madison Pike, Madison, Al 35758. The Dublin Park Facility includes: Basketball, disc golf course, driving well, double court gymnasium, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, kiddie pool, meeting roms, outdoor playground, soccer, tennis, volleyball, walking track and walking trails.
Kid’s Kingdom Playground at Dublin Park
The Madison Kid’s Kingdom Playground at Dublin Park is a community playground project that was constructed during a six day period in October of 1997. The playground is open to the public – free of charge, during daylight hours.
The site is nestled under a number of large oak and walnut trees, which offers plenty of shade. A pavilion with picnic tables is located just outside the gate. Additional picnic tables are located around the perimeter of the playground area.
The playground is maintained by the City of Madison Parks and Recreation Department’s Maintenance Division.

Mill Creek Greenway
Includes a paved walking trail along Mill creek and a fenced dog park. Paved parking is provided at its north end at Balch road and its southern end between Millstone subdivision and Mill Creek Elementary school.
Rainbow Mountain Preserve
A much more rugged hiking experience than the Mill Creek or Indian Creek Greenway. Located on the border of Huntsville and Madison on the east side of Rainbow Mountain. the 1.5 mile long Loop Trail follows a rocky path along the cliff ridge. It features beautiful rock formations including balanc rock ( a great place to take photos), native flora, caves and a waterfall. Other trails along the loop trail include the Wild Trail 0.4 miles and JaMooKo Loop Trail 0.9 miles and Spring Trail.
Indian Creek Greenway
One of the busiest greenways with wide paved walking areas, enough space to enjoy a bike ride it has become a favorite among families. It follows Indian Creek with paved parking in the Creekwood Subdivision (just follow the signs) at its northern end and its southern end is a gravel parking area along Old Madison Pike between Huntsville and Madison. The park access at Creekwood Subdivision includes a playground, covered picnic areas, disc golf cours and dog parks for both large and small dogs.
